CAPF removes TMC workers influencing elderly voters in Tufanganj
The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) swiftly intervened at a polling booth in Tufanganj, located in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district, removing a group of alleged Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers accused of trying to influence voters during special voting.
The incident occurred during arrangements made for elderly residents to cast their votes ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Acting on reports of interference, CAPF personnel responded promptly and brought the situation under control.
Officials said the timely intervention helped maintain order and prevented any disruption to the voting process, reinforcing efforts to ensure free and fair elections.
The Election Commission has deployed central forces in sensitive areas to curb malpractice and instill confidence among voters, particularly senior citizens. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as the state prepares for the upcoming Assembly polls.
