Ex Wipro employee alleges religious harassment in Hinjawadi

A former Wipro employee has alleged that she faced religious harassment, workplace discrimination and pressure to resign while working at the company’s Hinjawadi office in Pune. According to her complaint, a colleague repeatedly encouraged her to convert to Islam and allegedly urged her to pursue a relationship with a Muslim man.
The woman claims the colleague frequently interfered in her personal life and suggested that changing her faith would improve her quality of life and create better opportunities, including the possibility of working abroad.
She further alleges that despite reporting the matter to company management through internal channels, no meaningful action was taken. Instead, she claims a complaint was later filed against her before the company’s Ombuds Committee and that her concerns were not adequately addressed during the inquiry process.
In a legal notice sent to Wipro, the former employee has sought reinstatement, compensation and action against those she alleges were responsible. She also claims that the company’s handling of her complaints ultimately led to her resignation.
Police have acknowledged receiving a complaint and have begun a preliminary inquiry into the matter. However, no formal case has been registered so far, and authorities are currently examining the allegations.
Wipro has not publicly responded to the claims. The allegations remain unverified, and no conclusions have been reached by law enforcement agencies or the courts regarding the matter.
