Gujarat police arrest Bangladeshi’s under ‘Operation Delta Hunt’

Gujarat Police have detained 362 suspected illegal Bangladeshi nationals as part of a large-scale statewide operation named Operation Delta Hunt. The 72-hour crackdown was launched to identify individuals allegedly residing in Gujarat without valid legal documentation.
The operation was conducted simultaneously across several districts, with police teams carrying out raids, identity checks and verification drives in areas where undocumented migrants were suspected to be living or working. Officials said the initiative forms part of a broader effort to enforce immigration laws and identify foreign nationals staying in the state illegally.
According to authorities, 362 individuals have been detained so far, while the legal status and nationality of more than 780 others are currently being verified. Police are examining identity documents and conducting background checks to determine whether any further action is necessary.
The operation involved local police units, crime branch personnel and intelligence teams working together to track and verify suspected undocumented migrants across the state.
Officials have stated that verification drives and enforcement measures will continue in the coming days. They have also appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities and share information that may assist ongoing investigations.
The inquiry remains underway, and police are expected to provide further updates as the verification process progresses. The outcome of the ongoing checks will determine whether additional detentions or legal proceedings are initiated.
