“10,000 B’deshis deported till now officially”: Suvendu Adhikari

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has claimed that 10,000 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been officially deported, while stating that the actual number of those who may have left the country voluntarily remains unknown.
Adhikari said, “Officially, 10,000 Bangladeshis have been deported. Unofficially, I have no idea how many have left.”
The Chief Minister asserted that the official deportation figure reflects action taken against illegal immigrants, but suggested that additional individuals may have voluntarily returned to Bangladesh without being included in government records.
Adhikari’s remarks come amid the West Bengal government’s continued emphasis on strengthening border security and identifying undocumented immigrants. In recent weeks, the state government has reiterated its commitment to action against illegal immigration and has linked the issue to broader border management and national security concerns.
The Chief Minister did not provide any official estimate for the number of people who may have left voluntarily, saying that such figures are not available.
