Amritsar police bust cross border smuggling network

Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted three illegal arms and drug supply networks operating across border districts. Security forces arrested eleven individuals, including two juveniles, during coordinated raids.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed the recovery of two hand grenades and twelve illegal pistols. Officers also seized over three hundred grams of heroin and thirty-three live cartridges from the suspects.
Preliminary investigations revealed strong operational connections with Pakistan-based handlers and foreign gangsters. Smugglers utilized unmanned aerial vehicles to drop dangerous weapons and narcotics across international borders. Local operatives then collected and distributed these contraband consignments to various criminal gangs.
Police officials revealed that criminal elements used these illegal weapons to intimidate local business owners and extort cash. Suspects frequently opened fire at target residences and commercial shops when victims refused extortion demands.
Law enforcement agencies registered three separate criminal cases across Ranjit Avenue, Chheharta, and Sultanwind police stations. Specialized interrogation units continue questioning the detained suspects to uncover additional cross-border logistics networks. State authorities maintain high operational vigilance to dismantle illicit weapons supply chains completely.
