Delhi govt issues strict guidelines ahead of Bakrid

Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid), the Delhi Government has issued strict guidelines banning the sacrifice of cows, calves, camels, and other prohibited animals in the national capital. Authorities warned that anyone found violating the rules would face legal action. The advisory was issued by the Development Department under the supervision of Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra, directing officials to crack down on illegal transportation of animals, unauthorised slaughter, and acts of animal cruelty.
The government has also prohibited animal sacrifice in public places such as roads, streets, lanes, and open spaces. Sacrifices will only be permitted at authorised and designated locations. Officials have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of animal protection laws and maintain law and order during the festival period.
In addition, residents have been warned against dumping animal waste or allowing blood and remains to flow into drains, sewers, or public areas. Authorities said improper disposal could create sanitation and environmental hazards and may attract penalties. Citizens have also been urged to report any violations to the police or the Development Department.
The measures come ahead of Bakrid celebrations later this month, as Delhi Police and civic agencies intensify monitoring in sensitive areas across the city to prevent any untoward incidents.
