Disrupt Factory Work? Jail in 15 Minutes: Bengal CM

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari launched the West Bengal Investment Promotion Policy 2026. He delivered a clear warning at the same time. Disrupt factory work and face jail within 15 minutes.
Adhikari spoke firmly. No one can block factory gates. No one can force shutdowns. Political groups cannot hold industries hostage. Workers must raise grievances only through the Labour Commissioner. The government will also arrest those involved in extortion within 15 minutes.
The new policy puts jobs first. It offers total assistance of up to 120 percent of eligible investment in plant and machinery. Units in thrust sectors and priority areas get the highest support. These sectors include semiconductors, electric vehicles, green hydrogen, defence, and pharmaceuticals.
The policy links incentives to employment. Manufacturing units can receive job-linked aid. Service units get reimbursements for EPF contributions. Women and transgender workers in MSMEs receive higher benefits, up to 100 percent in some cases.
The government promises speed. Officials will issue a Certificate of Intent within 30 days. They will grant eligibility within 45 days. They will sanction claims within another 30 days. Benefits stay fixed from the date of the Certificate of Intent.
Land remains a key issue. Adhikari rejected the Left Front’s forcible acquisition. He also rejected the previous TMC approach that left industries to buy land alone. His government will create land banks. Officials will negotiate directly with willing landowners. They may offer compensation above market rates.
Adhikari declared the state’s new direction. Bengal is open for business. Bengal means business. The policy aims to attract fresh investment, revive closed units, and generate large-scale employment. It seeks to rebuild investor confidence after years of uncertainty.
