Andhra Pradesh Local Body Poll Results Unfold

Election officials in Andhra Pradesh began counting votes for the rural local body elections. Early trends show intense competition among major political parties across several districts. The Telugu Desam Party, YSR Congress Party, and Bharatiya Janata Party maintain strong positions.
Counting centers opened early in the morning under tight security arrangements. Police deployed heavy personnel to maintain peace around all counting locations. Authorities enforced Section 144 around sensitive venues to prevent potential violence. State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha personally inspected security measures at Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur.
Postal ballot counting concluded quickly in several segments. Early postal ballot numbers gave the TDP a strong initial lead in key areas. In Krishna district, postal ballot trends showed TDP leading, followed by YSRCP and Jana Sena. Meanwhile, election workers reported invalid postal votes in specific mandals.
Key victories emerged rapidly as rounds concluded. BJP candidate Kancherla Leelavathi won the Bheemagundam seat in Kadapa district by 833 votes. Another BJP candidate, Saadu Lavanya, secured the Mandapalli seat in Konaseema district with 240 votes. In Eluru district’s Kaikaluru mandal, officials declared 64 out of 66 postal ballots invalid.
Candidates across parties closely monitor round-wise vote announcements. Party workers gathered outside counting venues despite strict police monitoring. Senior leaders urged cadres to exercise restraint and avoid any provocation.
Voters earlier demonstrated strong participation, recording over 70 percent turnout across thousands of segments. Uncontested candidates already secured numerous seats before polling day. Election authorities expect complete official results later today as final tallies finish.
