Karnataka minister says SIR raises no concerns in the state

Karnataka Minister Sathish Jarkiholli said on Thursday that the Special Intensive Revision of rolls has not caused any issues in his state. The Congress leader said officials removed correct entries from the voter list.
Jarkiholli explained who the deleted names belonged to. Some voters had passed away. Others had moved to addresses. Election officials also found a number of people registered more than once. He said these removals are part of roll-cleaning procedures.
The minister made a distinction between Karnataka’s experience and the broader party position. He said Congress concerns are about states, not Karnataka. He did not mention which states or give details about the problems claimed.
His comments come as Congress gets ready for a demonstration. The party is planning a rally in Delhi on November 1. Leaders will protest what they say are issues with the SIR process. Workers from states are expected to attend.
The statement shows how Congress presents its complaints. The party does not oppose the revision everywhere. It focuses on states where it believes there are problems. Jarkiholli’s words suggest the Karnataka unit does not see any reason to worry at home.
Political analysts will watch how the party manages these positions. Congress is, in charge of Karnataka so its leaders need to defend the state’s voting process. At the time the national leadership wants to push the issue in other places.
Jarkiholli said voters should check their names on the updated list. He asked residents to fix any mistakes. He also said the state administration will assist anyone who finds an error.
The Delhi rally will test the party’s message. Leaders need to explain why the same process works in one state but not another. Jarkiholli’s comments give an idea of how that argument will go.
